Hello,
My name is Ben Johnston. I may know you, but there is a chance that I may not. If you do not know me that is 100% okay. I am a videographer and photographer currently living in Indiana. I am born and raised here. Graduated from college from Ball State University with a degree in Telecommunications with a focus in Video Production. What I find to be very funny was that I originally was not going to study Music Technology, so that I could produce music. Unfortunately I did not make it into the school of music. I was told that I could do the same thing but doing my degree with Telecommunications., so that is what I did even though that isn't what I ended up studying. So with my focus in video production I took an interest in storytelling which began in college athletics. After I graduated from Ball State, I worked in the world of sports for 6 years.
After I left sports I found myself freelancing for a local production house. I was a grip, which is "A lighting and rigging technician. He or she works closely with the camera crew and DOP (Director of Photography) on set. Invaluable on bigger shoots
After I was doing that for a while I was still looking for a job. I was still looking for a full time job to make a good amount of money, since freelance work is great and all, but it can be hard when it gets to be certain times of the year. So I get a job for a manufacturing company in Indianapolis. I work there for almost a year and then I leave.
Now I know some of you are probably thinking…. Why in the hell did you leave?
Trust me I thought it too. But I wanted something that I couldn't (and still can't get) at any company. And that is, well lets just say that I want to run my own company. But I didn't go full on crazy…. I found a part time job. I will tell you though that didn't last long. I did return back to the local manufacturer and continued to work on my company while doing work for them. After working there for a while I found a new passion and wanted to change fields again. I now work in IT and have continued to grow my media company while also opening new areas of that company and new ones as well. I will admit, it is really hard and stressful but its my goal and what I want.
And that’s me….
